Did ISI Chief ‘Confess’ To CIA?

LAHORE, Pakistan- This is now common knowlegde that The infamous American spy outfit Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) carries out overt and covert operations across the world. Its latest target has been Pakistan’s national intelligence agency, the ISI.

CIA has launched a smear campaign to malign Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency by suggesting an ISI role in the Mumbai attacks. This time, the CIA has used the services of Mr. Bob Woodward who has authored and published a book titled ‘Obama’s war’. The book, page after page, alleges that the Mumbai attacks were the doing of an ISI-sponsored squad.

Pakistan blocks Nato supply trucks: officials

PESHAWAR: Pakistani government officials say senior authorities have ordered them to block oil tankers and trucks carrying Nato supplies at a checkpoint bordering Afghanistan.

The two officials say they were not told the reason for the order at the Torkham border post. However, it comes after threats by Pakistani officials to stop providing protection to Nato convoys if the military alliance’s choppers hit Pakistani targets again.

A game of Whack-a-Mole, but is it?

The US has stepped up its drone strikes in Pakistan – bringing the total number of strikes in September to 21, a steep escalation from the highest number of strikes so far this year, in January which was 12. The number of drone strikes in 2010 has now reached an alarming number of 76 as compared to 56 in all of 2009.

It was in these attacks that the al Qaeda operational chief for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Sheikh Fateh, was reportedly killed – later also confirmed by a Pakistani official.

Nato helicopters kill three Pakistani soldiers in Kurram

PESHAWAR: Nato helicopters Thursday shelled a paramilitary checkpoint and killed three soldiers in a cross border attack in Kurram Agency, security officials said.

“It was an unprovoked attack that took place early Thursday morning. Nato helicopters entered our airspace and targeted a paramilitary checkpost killing three soldiers and wounding three others,” a senior security official told AFP.

Pakistan army dismisses reports of Europe plots

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s army on Wednesday dismissed as “very speculative” media reports that this month’s upsurge in U.S. drone strikes on Islamist militants in the country’s northwest sought to disrupt attacks on European cities.

Sky News on Tuesday reported that militants based in Pakistan were planning simultaneous strikes in London akin to the 2008 militant assault on Mumbai as well as attacks on cities in France and Germany.

It said a month of strikes by pilotless drone aircraft focused on Pakistan’s North Waziristan region, in which more than 100 militants were killed, was intended to disrupt the plot.

Pakistan warns NATO of military force to prevent violation of air space

Islamabad, Pakistan:– Pakistan’s foreign minister said Wednesday his country may use military force to stop violations of its territory.

“We will not allow anyone in any case to interfere in Pakistan’s territory and if this continues, we will adopt all the set measures including military action,” Rehman Malik told reporters. “I assure you we are quite capable of defending our homeland.”

US-led offensives displace Afghans

A new US-led offensive in troubled southern Afghanistan has forced thousands of civilians to flee their homes, Kabul officials say.

Hundreds of families have been displaced by fierce clashes around Kandahar city.

According to Afghan authorities, so far close 1,000 families have fled the area.

“More than 900 families have arrived from Arghandab and Zhari districts to Kandahar city in the past month,” said Mohammad Azim Nawabi, the director of Kandahar refugee department.
